Independence Day in Gypsy Hill Park
Augusta Democrats joined with their good friends in Staunton to sponsor a float and booth in the annual Independence Day parade through Gypsy Hill Park. Weather was perfect and the crowds large. I may be a bit biased, but it was pretty clear our float was one of the hits of the parade. Democrats riding and marching in the parade outnumbered those with any other group! Pictures capture only some of the enthusiasm of our great Democratic team.
Happy Birthday U.S.A.!

Democrats gather around the float just before the parade begins.

- Some folks brought their own signs in support of Creigh Deeds and other candidates.

- Banners proclaiming AUGUSTA COUNTY DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE and STAUNTON DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE led the way for our float and Democratic marchers.

- Erik Curren, candidate for House of Delegates District 20, greets voters as the parade begins.

- Greg Marrow, candidate for House of Delegates district 25, shakes hands along the parade route.

- A large number of Democrats supporting action on healthcare carried this banner and homemade signs. Many in the crowd gave it a “thumbs up.”

- Mike Painter, Democratic candidate for Staunton City Sheriff, greets residents.

- President Barack Obama rides high on the float capturing the attention of many spectators who took their own pictures. Marching in front of the float are Erik Curren and Lindsay Howerton.

- House of Delegates candidate Greg Marrow walks with his daughter as the parade nears the duck pond.

- Taking a break from shaking hands, Jeff Price, our candidate for House of Delegates 24th district, gives his son a lift. From the staging area through the entire Gypsy Hill loop is a long walk for short legs.

- Erik Curren greets voters and offers kids (young and old) hard candy.

- Kyle’s Towing Service has provided the Democratic float for several years. It is a beautiful and well-maintained rig. Contact Kyle’s at 886.0668.
